Cooking in a sustainable way can be a challenging task, especially if you're new to the concept. Thankfully experts like Christy Morgan understand that people may need a little help navigating the world of eco-conscious cuisine and offer assistance.
Christy is the creator of Viva la Greens, a company dedicated to making sustainable, plant-based, vegan, macrobiotic and healing food. Her vegan cooking classes provide hands-on experience for chefs of any skill level, whether you need to learn the very basics of vegan or vegetarian cooking or are simply looking for some new, creative ideas.
The classes include Vegan Brunch, where participants will learn to prepare delicious brunch food including Banana Pancakes, Southwest Tofu Scramble and Walnut Currant Scones; Learn the Basics of a Plant-based Diet, to help provide a solid understanding of the benefits of a plant-based diet, how to incorporate whole foods into your diet, cutting technicques and proper instruction on using a knife (and includes a two-hour cooking class); and Healthy Decadent Desserts, designe to help you avoid choosing packaged, process treats from the shelves of your local grocery store and learning to make vegan delicacies using natural ingredients and no refined sugar.
Christy also periodically hosts a workshop with horticultural expert Darren Butler, called From Patio to Plate. This workshiop demonstrates to would-be gardeners just how possible it is to grow fruits, vegetable and herbs in spaces as small as a windowsill. Furthermore, participants will learn how to take what you grow from your patio and turn it into something tasty for their plates.
Christy even counts Alicia Silverstone as one of her many fans! Check out her official website after the jump to find out how you can participate in one of her classes.
