An outdoor enthusiast will tell you that layering when playing outside during winter months is essential. After all, you can always peel off a layer if you get too warm, but if you're cold to start, it can be much more difficult to warm up.
Patagonia knows the importance of clothing that keeps you both warm and dry, and has developed their line of wool baselayers to meet both these needs. The tops and bottoms are made from eco-washed merino wool (meaning no environmentally-harmful chemicals like chlorine were used to wash the clothing). The wool used is sourced from sheep ranches at the base of New Zealand's Southern Alps, whose environmental standards used to produce the material are high.
Wool itself is a great material for a baselayer - it's hygroscopic, which means it absorbs moisture well and is very warm.
Patagonia believes in transparency - even with the earth-conscious materials used, consumers can take a peek at the environmental footprint of each item they're considering, including the distance traveled, carbon emissions produced, and waste generated.
