Only you can decide just how much of everyday household items you want to recycle. We can make helpful suggestions, but the level to which you do so depends entirely on you. Perhaps you're solely a newspaper and soda can recycler. Or maybe you always recycle your newspapers as well. Or perhaps you recycle every single piece of waste possible.
Regardless of just how far you take your recycling, the necessary bins, especially stackable ones, are something every garage should have. They are too space-consuming to keep in the kitchen (unless you have a huge kitchen), but having a separate space gives you added incentive to recycle when and where you can. By eliminating the need to sort a huge pile later on, you're more likely to toss the cardboard box from that box of granola bars into its appropriate bin if one is available. And because the bins are sold separately, if you're new to recycling anything you can' get a rebate for, you can start with a couple and keep adding to them. In fact, trying adding another bin for a new item every two to three weeks.
Keeping them in the garage is ideal because one the bins are full, you can load them into the back of your vehicle and haul them to the proper locations. Before you know it, you'll be recycling as much waste as you're throwing away - dare we hope, maybe even more?
