Is it possible for every last aspect of your outfit to carry a message? PONO absolutely believes so with their line of eco-friendly accessories designed for women of any age, size or income level.
It isn't just the outright "Peace and Love" and "Save the Earth" messages found on some of the bangles and pendants, it is just as much about the earth-conscious production process in Italian factories that are committed to quality and the natural cow horn and resins used in the pieces. Items range from a $20 Masaai beaded bracelet - of which 20% of profits are doanted to young African women in need - to more expensive, high-end jewelry. According to the company:
The PONO brand represents the belief that even something as tiny as a bangle can be a source of positive change in the world; either through its ethical production process, the way it makes the wearer feel, or the money it raises for one of the many charities we support.
PONO recently launched their "Give Love, Practice Peace" campaign, which features a line of bangles designed on behalf of a cause and sees a percentage of profts from sales of those bracelets given to the named charity. So far The Climate Project, Give a Girl a Chance and the Natural Resources Defense Council have all benefitted from the campaign.
Pieces from the PONO collection have been featured in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, O and Harper's Bazaar, as well as on television and in movies including "The Devil Wears Prade," "27 Dresses," "Gossip Girl" and "The L Word."
