Sometimes the do-it-yourself approach to household projects is the easiest way to go. Whether you're out of your favorite cleaning product or are simply looking for a more natural alternative, there are some cleaners you can make from common products you have around the home.
To polish furniture...combine one cup of vegetable or olive oil with a half-cup of lemon juice.
To remove crayon marks...put some toothpaste on a damp cloth and rub the surface of the floor or table. Avoid using on wallpaper or a porous surface.
To clean your barbecue...roll a lemon under your foot without crushing it, then cut it in half and sprinkle the flesh with salt. Rub the lemon on your barbecue's greasy grill grate (then say that quickly three times), then scrub will a grill brush after a few minutes.
To scour the bathtub and sink...sprinkle baking soda on the wet surface, then rub with a rag that contains some liquid castile soap (available in most soap aisles of local retailers). Rinse well.
To make your own disinfectant...combine 50 ml to 100 m of eucalyptus oil with one liter of water. Put in spray bottle and remember to shake before using.
