Washington, DC is not only a city steep in American history, it's becoming a leader in green initiatives as well. The city has one of the best public transportation systems in the country, the first public bike sharing program in the U.S. and a policy that protects local scenery by dictating buildings be no higher than 160 feet. In fact a Green Building Act that went into effect in March 2007 requires all new buildings under construction to meet LEED guidelines.
Travel accommodations in the city are also starting to adopt green features, so if you're planning to visit the nation's capital in the near future, be sure to check out one of these 10 eco-friendly facilities, the best in the city according to RezHub.com, who compiled the list.
