Children's television network Nickelodeon wants kids to care about the planet so they've recruited two big stars to help promote environmental awareness through their Big Green Help campaign. LeBron James, star forward for the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers is featured in a web-based game which allows kids to direct a virtual version of himself riding a bike through an obstacle course as he offers them eco-friendly living tips.
However James will get some help in a new public service announcement he's filmed for the network. SpongeBob SquarePants, one of Nickelodeon's biggest stars, shares the screen with the basketball star, as they both tells kids what they can do to help preserve the earth.
"We're trying to get kids out of the house,'' Cleveland's All-Star forward said. "Get outside, ride bikes, play hoops. And in this, we're trying to save water and do other things that can help the environment. ... It doesn't take much to recycle a can or turn the faucet off.''
"They are our future,'' he said. "You never forget things when you're a kid, so every time I do something I like to have it involve kids. I was at my basketball camp earlier and the memories those kids made are going to stay with them the rest of their lives. What I do is kid driven. I don't do it because I have to. I want to.''
Kids and adults will have to wait until later this month to see the PSA, however check out the SpongeBob SquarePants opening song below if you can't get enough of your porous little buddy!
