Sustainability to be the key feature of Holmes' Homes

Posted by Pinky Bean on June 1, 2008 5:44 AM Filed Under: Home

Mike Holmes has made a name for himself on HGTV Canada as the country's resident expert on "make it right" construction. The premise of his weekly show "Holmes on Homes" is to help homeowners fix problems (read: disasters) caused by dishonest and incompetent contractors. Now Holmes will bring his expertise to Holmes' Homes, a new development project in Okotoks, Alberta that will focus on sustainable and green design.

The homes will contain eco-friendly properties including a high-performance building envelope, living roofs, grey-water recapture systems, solar assist domestic hot water pre-heat and and radiant floor heating.

Anyone who has ever watched Mike's show (Mr. Pinky Bean views it almost religiously) knows how committed he is to building with integrity, and even more so, his honest, no-holds-barred approach to construction and renovations. His new project will be no exception.

"I'm sick and tired of fixing other peoples' crap", say Holmes. "Now I'm going to Make it Right™, by building new houses the best way I know how."

"I love Okotoks and hope we will be able to build the first Holmes Homes development here," says Holmes. If all goes well, the first Holmes Homes will be offered for sale in Spring of 2009.
