Sure it may resemble a golf cart, but a new car made by Genepax, a Japanese company, is going to make filling up your fuel tank a lot easier on the wallet than a traditional car. The car runs solely on water of any type (even tea!), so feasibly the next time it rains or, you could collect rainwater and keep your vehicle running for the day. Or if you can't finish the Venti drink you optimistically ordered from Starbucks, you could just open your tank and dump it in.
The car can travel a distance of approximately 80 kilometers over an hour using one liter of water. The car is refueled internally with a tank that sends water to an energy generator located in the back. The generator then releases electrons which produce electric power to keep the car moving. Unfortunately the generator is a bit of eyesore and will give the appearance of perpetually carrying a microwave around in your backseat, however with gas topping $4 a gallon in the U.S., it could just be a trade-off consumers are willing to make.
Genepax is hoping to work with Japanese manufacturers to begin mass production on the vehicle in the near future.
