If you live in the Midwestern region of the U.S. and are still looking for the perfect destination for a family trip this summer, pack up up the vehicle and head to Madison, Wisconsin for the Dane County Fair, being held on July 19 and 20.
Not only will you get your fill of carnival rides and cotton candy, you'll also be able to attend Hybridfest 2008, the Midwest's largest collection of clean, sustainable vehicles in one venue. Attendees will have the opportunity to view a selection of hybrids, plug-in hybrids, biodiesel, electric, propane and natural gas cars, as well as experimental vehicles. The show won't just focus on new vehicles either; speakers will also address the issue of rising gas prices, including fuel-efficient driving tips that could save anywhere from 35 cents to one dollar per gallon in the vehicles people are currently driving.
Vehicle dealers, manufacturers, environmental groups and vendors will also be set up at the grounds, with the added bonus of vehicle test drives available through some of them, and the presence of real-life drivers of newer, fuel-efficient vehicles who will discuss their personal experiences with their cars. Another highlight of the show will be the MPG Challenge, a fuel-economy competition that will test the best hypermilers on an open-road course.
Last year over 12,000 individuals attended Hybridfest and organizers are hoping that number will grow this year. Admission is included with the price of the fair ticket, so be sure to visit the official Dane County Fair website for more information about Hybridfest, as well as other event highlights.
