Origins Organics

Posted by Pinky Bean on May 12, 2008 3:52 AM Filed Under: Beauty

Since 1990, Origins has established themselves as a cult beauty favorite with a line of skincare, cosmetics, hair, fragrance and bath and body products. The company later branched out into organic skin care, using the motto "You are what your skin eats" as a guide.

Origins Organics is the first full line of skin, body and hair products that has been certified organic by the USDA National Organic Program. That means no toxic chemical pesticides or herbicides, no artificial preservatives and no unnecessary additives. Instead the products contain certified organic ingredients produced by farmers who value renewable resources. Before hitting store shelves, all products are subjected to analysis by a government-approved certifier who gives the green light if the product is indeed organically-produced.

Not does Origins Organics strive to create products good for your skin, they try to do it with as little environmental impact as possible. The products are packaged in cartons made from 50% paperboard certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and 50% post-consumer recycled fiber, and all packaging is manufactured using hydro or wind power. The company also utilizes recycled paper and soy-based inks for all printed material.

Pinky's Picks:

Conditioning Hair Oil - Elements such as pollution and the sun can take their toll on your tresses, so use this oil to help repair, hydrate and protect your hair.

Soothing Lip Balm - Organic Shea and cocoa butters combined with organic sunflower, palm and coconut oils will help soften even the most parched lips.

Body Pampering Massage Oil - After a long day, recruit your significant other to rub some of this oil containing organic jojoba oil, organic fennel and organic chamomile onto your tired shoulders.

Leafy Green's Tip of the Day Tuna is not only loaded with healthy omega-3's but also tons of poisonous mercury! Yikes! Although the vast majority of tuna on the market is safe, mercury accumulates in your body's tissues and can be harmful in large enough doses. Limit your tuna consumption to the occasional roll of sushi and you should be okay.
