It was voted the Carribean's Top Spa Resort, but as it turns out, the Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort & Spa is pretty green too. Despite the fact that you can live like a celebrity and have your own personal butler included with a top tier suite, the resort also offers accommodations you can feel good about using, due to their environmental consciousness.
What makes it green: The resort believes in conserving water and uses low-flow showers and toilets. The restaurants compost food waste rather than throwing it away, and the hotel also uses energy-efficient lighting and non-toxic cleaning profits. Beyond their sapphire-blue pool and intimate villa suites, the facility also donates to non-profit organizations and is a particpant in an energy conservation program.
Additional amenities: Well there's that butler at your service if you so desire. Guests can also choose between seemingly unlimited activities ranging from the physical challenge of snorkeling, windsurfing and beach volleyball to the lower key options such as table tennis, outdoor chess and board games. There are also several restaurants to choose from and nightly entertainment that includes karaoke, a piano bar and the Junkanoo Buffet.
Green rating: 4 out of 5 branches
