If you'll be heading to Orlando to pay a little visit to Mickey Mouse this year, you're in luck because green accommodations are abundant in the city. As an added bonus, because it's such a tourist hotspot you can get almost anywhere by walking or taking some form of public transportation, whether it be a shuttle to Sea World or a streetcar up and down International Drive. The Crowne Plaza Universal is one of the hotels working to minimize the environmental impact of traveling.
Why it's green: The hotel is actually listed as a state certified green property and evidence to support their certification includes the use of Energy Star appliances, a fresh-air exchange system and low-flow showers and toilets in the bathroom. They also participate in an energy conservation program and use eco-friendly cleaning products to keep the facility spotless.
Additional amenities: If you aren't doing enough walking, increase your cardiovascular activity in the onsite fitness facility and outdoor swimming pool. If you'll be staying for an extended period and find yourself running out of clean underwear, a laundry room and valet laundry service are also provided. If the weather doesn't hold up, a game room will provide a distraction and relief from being stuck in your hotel room for an entire day.
Green rating: 4 out of 5 branches
