The Ultimate Natural Beauty Book

Posted by Pinky Bean on March 14, 2008 6:17 AM Filed Under: Beauty, Shopping

Josephine Fairley believes caring about what goes into your body by purchasing organic foods makes a natural progression to being cognizant about what you put on your body. It was this mindset that led her to write The Ultimate Natural Beauty Book. The book shows budding DIY-enthusiasts how to make their own all-natural beauty products, often for a fraction of the cost of purcashing them in a store.

Recipes include Geranium Cleansing Balm, Vitamine-Enriched Moisturizer, Lavendar & Rose Dusting Powder, Aloe Vera Cleanser and Beetroot Lip & Cheek Tint.

"I don't think petrochemicals have any place in what we put on our skin," she says. "I would rather use something that is renewable and sustainable, and can be grown season after season. It's possible that our descendants will need every last drop of oil that the earth can produce to light and heat their homes, and I don't want to be responsible for having consumed a single extra drop of that, just to slather something on my face, when I can use something that is natural and renewable."

For those who believe they lack the necessary expertise, Fairley says nothing in her book should be too complicated for the average user to master.

"If you can make a dressing or melt chocolate, you can make your own cosmetics."
