The Future of Food

Posted by Pinky Bean on March 22, 2008 5:48 PM Filed Under: Food, Video

The news about food hasn't been overly positive as of late, with talk of skyrocketing food prices, meat from clone offspring and genetically modified crops consistently making headlines in the media.

The Future of Food is a documentary that investigates and exposes the truth behind all of the unlabelled, patented, genetically engineered foods that are currently sitting on the shelves of your local grocery store and have been for quite some time. Farmers across North America discuss the negative impact the technology has had on the industry, as big corporations increasingly gain control of the global food supply. Not surprisingly, the film shows how organic and sustainable agriculture are the best solutions to protecting individuals from potential health risks that come with the introduction of genetically altered food crops into the food supply.

If you don't have easy access to organic produce, the season for farmer's markets is now beginning, where you can find food that is locally grown. You can also click here for tips to start your own garden. Knowing where your food comes from is the first step to know exactly what it contains (and sometimes more importantly, what it doesn't).

Watch the video clip below and hit the jump to visit The Future of Food website to learn more about the documentary.
