If the Environmental Protection Agency has their way, reducing carbon emissions from sources such as vehicles and power plants won't just be the eco-coscious thing to do, it will be a rule.
Stephen Johnson, head honcho of the EPA, wrote a letter to congressional leaders advising that this spring the group will propose regulations for greenhouse gas emissions from stationary and mobile sources. The Bush administration has thus far rejected the idea of enforcing regulations despite having the highest emissions in the world. If the new rules were to take effect, carbon emissions would be regulated under the Clean Air Act.
In its proposal, to be issued this spring, the "EPA will present and request comment on the best available science including specific and quantifiable effects of greenhouse gases relevant to making an endangerment finding," Johnson said in his letter.
