The World Food Programme was just given one million reasons to love Drew Barrymore. The Hollywood actress announced she would donate $1 million to the charity, which helps feed starving children in Africa.
The charity has benefitted from Barrymore's help since 2005, in which time she has made two trips to Kenya to witness their efforts for herself. In 2007, she was also named an Ambassador Against Hunger. Drew announced her planned donation on the Oprah Winfrey show on Monday.
"I have seen with my own eyes what a difference a simple cup of nutritious porridge can make in a child's life," the actress said. "It helps them learn, stay healthy and sets them on track for a bright future."
The WFP is hoping to feed 10 million more children by Thanksgiving Day. It seems Drew just brought them significantly closer to that goal. While you may not be able to donate quite as much as Drew, hit the jump to find out how you can become involved.
