The British government is attempting to set a good example and has banned the serving of bottled water at their meetings. Instead the self-explanatory "tap water only" policy will be in effect by this summer.
Britain has been one of the most vocal countries speaking out against the use of plastic bottles, with public figures claiming they avoid it and the media pressuring restaurants to stop selling it. In 2006, approximately 12,600 bottles of water were provided by caterers to the Environment Department, however the group made the switch to tap water last year.
Maybe government employees should order their own SIGG bottles and start taking those to meetings.
