Renew yourself with Dr. Scholl's

Posted by Pinky Bean on February 19, 2008 3:07 AM Filed Under: Clothes

Just in time for spring, well-known brand Dr. Scholl's has produced its first line of eco-friendly sandals. Dr. Scholl's footwear is known for the treatment and relief of common foot ailments and now the company has taken their reputation for comfort and combined it with environmental consciousness.

The "Renew" line is made from vegetable tanned leather or natural hemp fiber on the upper portion of the sandal, a recycled metal adjustable buckle and sustainable Brazilian wood for the footbed. The corn-based outsole is biodegradable and to fully cover their bases, the company plants 10 trees for each sandal purchased. Even better, the line comes in a rainbow of colors, ranging from classic black to spring-worthy yellow. The Renew sandals are classified as an exercise sandal, but they're cute enough that with the right capri pants or skirt, there isn't any reason you can't pull double-duty and wear them to the office.

Hit the jump to visit the Dr. Scholl's site to see all of the colors available in the Renew line.

Leafy Green's Tip of the Day Did you know that using a dishwasher can actually be more eco-friendly than washing dishes by hand? Always run a full load and be sure to set your machine to low-temp wash and air dry. If your machine has a 'short cycle' take advantage of that as well. A great excuse to avoid doing the dishes!
