We're animal-lovers here at Ecollo, which probably explains the fixation with all of the cute photos and videos we find for you. It comes as no surprise then that most stories about animals initially catch our eye, whether they be endangered, heroic or possessing any other noteworthy attribute. This particular story about a rare white stag discovered in Britain combined many of the aforementioned characteristics, as this beautiful animal is believed to be one of the few surviving left of its kind and the capturing of one on film is considered a truly remarkable event.
The 'ghost' stag is receiving particularly special attention because it was only this past October that what was originally thought to be the country's last white stag was found beheaded, its body hanging from a tree. The outcry from locals was immediate, as they had worked hard to protect the animal's whereabouts. Therefore most of the details surrounding this most recent sighting - namely where it occured - is guarded in hopes it will remain safe from potential poachers. Fran Lockhart, the individual who recorded the animal, is still in awe of her discovery.
"I am thrilled to know that there is a white stag roaming free out there in the Scottish Highlands and that I was privileged enough to be able to spend an hour observing him. He looked almost ghost-like next to the group of young red stags that he was mixing with. We will be watching this animal with interest, particularly as he will be reaching his full potential in the next couple of years."
