If you live in or around London or plan to visit there this Valentine's Day, consider enjoying a romantic dinner at what is being called the city's most eco-friendly restaurant.
The Waterhouse Restaurant operates using the most green methods possible, including hydro electric power and paperless menus. The ambient temperature of a nearby canal is used to generate hot and cold water to heat the building and water taps. Arthur Potts-Dawson, creator of The Waterhouse, believes that every environmentally conscious initiative taken by the restaurant can make a difference, no matter how insignificant it may seem.
We try to lower our carbon issues with regards to electric vans...rather than diesel vans, using sustainable rather than carbon-based energy, using less water, less cardboard. We really try and lower our environmental impact. From an ecological sense, we want to be accountable for everything that we do.
On second thought, don't just limit yourself to one day of the year. If dining in a restaurant on Valentine's Day doesn't sound so appealing, be sure to check out The Waterhouse any other time you are in the area.
