As if Jack Johnson really needed to give me another reason to love him. Just his trademark acoustic guitar and mellow vocals alone are enough to make me swoon like a school girl, but it turns out this former surfer-turned-musician is also a environmental advocate. His commitment to the cause led him to record his most recent album Sleep Through the Static in an eco-friendly studio.
The former house was converted into a green studio with renovations including insulation made from recycled strips of denim, energy-efficient light bulbs and appliances and secondhand furniture. The energy generated by solar panels on the roof is strong enough on sunny days to power other neighborhood homes. Jack decided to forego new techology in favor of old-school recording equipment which he used to record directly to tape.
