It's inevitable: you can plan ahead, slather on sunscreen using the tips I posted on Tuesday and wear a hat to shade your face, but one small error such as forgetting to re-apply sunscreen after a dip in the ocean can cause all previous efforts to go awry and leave you with a beautiful shade of burnt red (refer to the story of my sunburned knees if you don't believe me).
Unfortunately at that point the damage is done and all you can do is take the proper measures to try to minimize discomfort and healing time. Watch the video below for tips to expedite your recovery.
One thing I ought to note is that the video fails to mention the use of aloe vera. Calamine lotions may be great for relieving pain, but aloe also cools the skin and may help reduce the amount of peeling once your skin starts to heal. Try this Pure Aloe Vera by Aubrey Organics. And remember to keep any burned skin properly protected when you're ready to venture outdoors again.
