Why stop at chocolate-dipped strawberries this Valentine's Day? If you're looking for a dessert idea that doesn't require a lot of culinary expertise but is still romantic, look no further than fondue. If you can turn on the stove, light a match and chop fruit, you can make fondue, it's that simple. Even better, all of the ingredients required can be bought organic or locally, making it one great green indulgence.
8 ounces organic chocolate (milk, dark, flavored, whatever you prefer)
1/3 cup organic whipping cream
3 tablespoons organic Amaretto (or substitute the liqueur for your favorite type such as Grand Marnier or orange-flavored)
Chopped organic fruit - Strawberries are a given, but also try bananas, pineapple, grapes, apples, pears or any other fruit you think you'd love dripping in warm, rich chocolate.
Coarsely chop the chocolate and melt in a saucepan over low heat. Add cream and blend until smooth. Stir in the Amaretto and transfer to a small fondue pot to keep warm.
See, even all you kitchen neophytes out there can make this, I have total faith!
