Eco-friendly bamboo from Forever 21

Posted by Pinky Bean on February 22, 2008 5:42 AM Filed Under: Clothes, Shopping

I'm such a sucker for warm-weather fashion. After a long, drawn-out cold spell, I'm ready to ditch the wool sweaters and thick sheepskin boots in favor of breezy summer dresses perfect for an evening of sipping margaritas (made with organic strawberries of course!) on a sunlit patio. Given that today is Friday, it's even easier to create this mental image and envision the day will soon be a reality.

Given my fanciful daydream, I've been looking around for potential summer patio attire and was pleased to see Forever 21 now offers the perfect little sundress made from bamboo. Bamboo is gaining in popularity for its sustainability, soft texture likened to cotton and cashmere and ability to be cultivated without the use of pesticides. In other terms, it's eco-friendly. The icing on the cake is that this dress is available in eight vibrant, seasonal colors (I'm in love with the yellow) and will cost you less than $25. Now they're really speaking my language.

That's so affordable you can even throw in a pair of the red Dr. Scholl's Renew sandals I told you about earlier this week and this fabulous Angel Hobo bag made from recycled billboard vinyl, available on teh Eco-Handbags website.

Now the only thing missing from my perfect little scenario is some salsa music and sunscreen!

Leafy Green's Tip of the Day Palm oil is in so many products it's hard to keep track: everything from face cream to pasta sauce. The problem is everytime you buy a product containing palm oil you are directly supporting the destruction of habitats for endangered species such as Sumatran tigers and orangutans. Always look for products that contain sustainable oils such as canola, sunflower or olive oil instead.
