More global corporations are vowing to do their part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Companies including Sony, Nokia, Hewlett-Packard and Nike are working with the WWF to include business partners and customers in their efforts. This might include steps such as Sony and its transportation companies initiating steps to lessen the impact of the distribution of products. Sony head honcho Howard Stringer is challenging other prominent corporations to step up the plate and do the same.
"I went to Davos last month, originally expecting climate change will be the main focus of the World Economic Forum," Stringer told a news conference. "Instead, participants, unsurprisingly, were more preoccupied with the global financial meltdown than the meltdown of icebergs and glaciers."
Wow, business leaders are more concerned with a loss of profits than the issue of global warming? I haven't heard such a shocking revelation since medical professionals said they suspected Britney Spears might be suffering from some mental issues. On the other hand, names like Sony, Nokia and Nike carry some weight and with their commitment to introduce more green business practices, it may not be long before other companies are influenced to do the same.
