Raising a Little Green Star

Posted by Pinky Bean on January 28, 2008 3:36 AM Filed Under: Clothes, Life

If you're looking for some helpful tips to raise environmentally conscious children, Little Green Star is a fabulous resource whether you're just starting out or a novice eco parent. It aims to teach chlildren the importance of caring for the earth and to help them develop ideas of their own that are good for the environment

The Explore section of the site tells you why it's so important to be green and the reasons for choosing organic cottons and dyes. There are also some great family activities listed for some of North America's largest cities, as well as some coloring pages you can print off at home that offer kids some easy tips they can use to protect the environment. The founders of the company have even written an article, posted in this section, providing projects that parents and children car work on together to raise the level of eco awareness in the home.

If you want your kids to sport the green message, be sure to check out the collection of organic cotton shirts available on the site that proclaim an array of messages including "Bee Green," "Water Pollution Makes Me Crabby," "My Dad Recycles More Than Your Dad," "Future Paleontologist," and "Powered By Organic Milk." The designs are printed by hand using water-based inks, and are available in onesies for sizes starting at three months and going up to 18 months, as well as t-shirts from sizes 2T to 6T.

Hit the jump to visit Little Green Star for some great advice for the smallest members of your family.

Leafy Green's Tip of the Day Do you have any idea what's in that gel scented candle of plug-in air freshener? It takes hundred of chemicals to replicate the fragrance of 'spring breeze' in your living room. Potpourri, fresh flowers and fresh baked cinnamon buns can make your home more fragrant without the chemicals. (Besides, if your house really stinks that bad maybe you should open a window...)
