As we posted earlier this week, you can reduce the amount of food waste you produce by freezing food and carefully planning what to buy. These aren't the only green food-related measures you can take this year.
Green: Paper or plastic? Neither. You've probably seen the reusable shopping bags many supermarkets now offer. Purchase a few to take with you when you shop for groceries.
Greener: Pay attention to food packaging, and if possible, choose the option that uses recyclable material (cardboard as opposed to plastic) or minimal packaging altogether.
Green: Opt for local and organic produce when you can.
Green: If both options aren't available, choose local produce over organic. The food is fresher and wasn't brought in from far-away destinations, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
