I am one of the guilty individuals who enjoys a long, hot shower in the morning, so the resolution to conserve water and take shorter showers is one that I probably need to introduce into my daily routine. Or perhaps I should let Mr. Pinky Bean make good on his threat to make our shower coin-operated. Two mornings of warm water suddenly shutting off or going absurdly cold should learn me.
Green: Reduce water usage by limiting your shower to five to 10 minutes. I recently read that showering in the evening can help you use less warm water since most people tend to be colder in the mornings, thus upping their water temperature. Also be sure to turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth.
Greener: Convert to low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators to save water.
Green: Conserve water every time you flush your toilet by using dams or bags in high-volume toilets.
Greener: Buy a new toilet with dual-flush capabilities.
