Despite rumours of the retirement or replacement of the Toyota Prius, sales in 2007 are up 76% so far this year. In fact, over half of all the hybrid vehicles sold in the United States were Priuses.
The average number of days a vehicle spends on a dealer's lot before it is sold is in the mid-60s. The number of days a Toyota Prius spends on a lot? 10.
Demand is so high that even used Priuses are selling for near-new prices. However, this is expected to change in the near future. With Toyota ramping-up production, there should be many more new vehicles available to meet consumer demand. This is good news for people who've wanted a Prius but have been unable to get one due to low inventories.
