Some tips from the Canadian newspaper Tandem on how to reduce waste on your big day:
- • Set up a web site and invite people electronically before printing up paper invitations.
- • Go digital for your wedding pics.
- • Choose a menu that features local food that's in season (and organic wine to go with it!).
- • Look for a vintage or hand-me-down gown instead of buying new.
- • Select reusable suits and gowns for your wedding party.
- • Ask for charitable donations instead of china you'll never use.
And the list goes on. E-mail invitations, expensive organic food, hand-me-down clothes and no wedding gifts? Can't having an eco-friendly wedding be a little less... painful?
