Technology is cool. A "laser-guided electric car" should be very cool. In fact, you'd have to agree that pretty much anything with the word "laser" in its description should look like it came from the set of a Star Wars movie. Now may I please refer you to the picture of the blue and white weenie car to the right...
The English town of Daventry believes that "Cybercars" (or "Dorkmobiles") may be the solution to reduce the its residents' reliance on passenger cars. To use these ugly little go-karts, simply hop in and hit a button. Lasers detect and avoid obstacles and a computer navigates the route along a light track.
In fairness, these vehicles are intended for light use, short distance trips in areas with limited vehicle access. So... they're basically like golf carts, right? Except uglier?
