The big brains at Sun Microsystems have recently announced the launch of http://www.openeco.org/, a new web site that allows businesses to calculate, compmare, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by sharing data anonymously through the web site.

It'll be interesting to see if this project actually results in any real change or if this this just a bunch of big companies blowing smoke to make themselves look good to investors.  If this is like Sun's other technology efforts, this site will be dead within 3 years. 

They really need a slogan to kick start this new site.  How about "Open Eco: it's like Facebook except not fun."
