A recent article by The Diet Detective actually lists 10 heart-healthy tips, but at least three of those were filler tips so we left those off of our list.
1. Snack on pistachios instead of potato chips - reduces bad cholesterol
2. Use 100% whole-grain bread instead of white - you can cut your risk of heart disease by 21%
3. Steam your veggies, don't fry them - more nutrients and fiber, less fat
4. Swap skim milk for whole milk - reduces both your saturated fat and calorie intake
5. Use a cooking spray mister instead of pouring oil into a pan - controls your fat intake
6. Season with garlic instead of salt - cuts your risk of heart disease by 25%
7. Indulge in wild salmon instead of steak - less saturated fat and loaded with healthy omega-3 fatty acids
Hit the jump for the detailed article and see if you can spot the three missing tips.
