Attention music lovers: ActiveMusic, a non-profit organization that raises money for environmental and social justice causes, has recently launched an auction for a green baby grand piano donated to the organization by Baldwin. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Global Green USA, more specifically their Rebuild New Orleans Green Project in the Holy Cross neighborhood in the Ninth Ward. 

Last year Fats Domino and Aaron Neville both played played gigs on the piano and Domino signed it afterward. Earlier this year the piano was used to record some of Ray Brown Jr's new album "Family and Friends," and was also signed by Brown, James "Fathead" Newman, James Moody and Sophie B. Hawkins.

“ActiveMusic is very excited to auction this fabulous and first-ever ‘green’ piano, a true collectors’ item and irreplaceable gem, to support Global Green USA’s green and sustainable rebuilding of New Orleans’ neighborhoods hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina,” said Susann McMahon, Founder and Executive Director of ActiveMusic. “It is truly fitting that the auction winner of this green piano, played and signed by Fats Domino who lives in the 9th Ward, will be instrumental in the green resurrection of this distinctive neighborhood.”

Not only will the money raised from the sale go towards a great cause, the wood used to craft the piano was sustainably harvested from areas that do not threaten conservation-valued forests. To place a bid or learn more about the auction or ActiveMusic, visit their official site.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may be busy trying to add enough kids to their household to form their own NHL hockey team, however they still managed to find time to donate more than $8 million to charities in 2006.

One of the organization to benefit from the couple's donations was Global Green USA, a national environmental group that has undertaken three major challenges: creating green buildings and cities to curb the effects of climate change, eliminating weapons of mass destruction that threaten the earth and providing the 2.4 billion people without safe drinking water with access to with clean water.

Last month, Global Green hosted a pre-Oscars party that raised $420,000 with help from celebrities including Adrian Grenier and Salma Hayek.

Other organizations that benefitted from the generosity of Brad and Angelina were Doctors Without Borders and the Global Action for Children (both with $1 million donations), the Namibia Red Cross Action Program ($137,935), the Daniel Pearl Foundation ($100,000) and two orphanages ($5,000 each) that Jolie visited. Of the pair, Brad is the slightly more generous benefactor donating a total of $4,402,317 to Angelina's $4,123,613.

The numbers don't include 2007 donations, in which Brad donated $5 million to the Make It Right Foundation, which is working to build sustainable housing in storm-ravaged New Orleans.
