Imagine you're one one of the biggest pet food manufacturers in America. Your latest shipment of corn meal from China is actually made of chunks of old computer motherboards that have been splashed with lead paint for good measure and you've just put that stuff into tons of pet food being sold on store shelves. Cats are puking, dogs are dying and guinea pigs are exploding all over America and the finger is being pointed at you. Sure, you can point your own finger back at China but the fact remains that it was your company's logo on the bag of food that killed Lassie.
Okay, so I'm exaggerating the situation just a tad but it's not too far off the mark. The tainted pet food scandal was great for small-time producers of natural and organic pet food, but it was a public relations nightmare for the big pet food companies who suddenly lost the trust of their customer base.

They've got the logo, the look, and a great web site. The question is: how does this food stack-up against natural pet food produced by smaller companies? Will the consumers that used to trust the Science Diet brand ever be able to trust them again?
